In Roland Persson's sculptures and installations, nature appears both destructive and creative, wounded and budding, a duality that permeates his artistry.
The carefully depicted animal and plant motifs often depict (exhibit) traces of memories of the relationship between humans and nature.
In his art, he uses silicone that he casts from shapes created from real objects. Thecolored, flexible silicone gives a recognizable result to the eye but leaves room for the motif and what is presented to the viewer for their own interpretation. It is a mixture of brutality, vulnerability with surreal scenes that simultaneously breathe life, warmth and compassion.
